Ping.fm

Filed under: General — jrogers @ 2:20 PM

Hmmm… just set up my Ping account so that all my social media accounts are updated at the same time, instead of having to update each one individually and I have to say… this is nice!! I almost didn’t believe and went and checked every account, but yep it is all there! Pretty freakin cool. I suggest it to anyone that is drowning trying to keep up with all their social media accounts.

About Social Media at the Beach:
Anyone looking to learn more about next generation marketing and technology. Whether if you are completely new to Social Media or if you are at an advanced level, there will be a large variety of topics to be discussed at the event.

One of our featured highlights is the group activity in how to make a Business successful using Social Media Marketing from the ground up. This will be an interaction activity throughout the whole event.

#SMATB is a local event for the Virginia Beach area for the people by the people. We are not your typical large corporate company trying to get you as another client or charge you an arm & a leg just to get in.

We are opening this to the public as a grass roots type of movement where we are avoiding corporate exposure and running this by a team who will all contribute by presenting and organizing the event.

How to Stay Ahead?

Filed under: General — jrogers @ 6:39 AM

So I continue to get the same question from different business owners I talk to, ‘what is the best way to stay ahead of my competitors out there?’

My answer is: stay fresh with your image and maintain a consistent public presence.

And then my answer is normally followed by, ‘but there are so many avenues to take when trying to stay fresh in a customers’ mind, so what do I choose?’

‘There are websites, email marketing, mailers and postcards, business cards, direct marketing, word of mouth, incentive plans, networking events, twittering, blogging, reciprocal links, social networking, search engine optimization, online advertisements, newspaper ads, magazine ads, classifieds, coupons, yellow pages…’ ok so, there is a lot.  So how do YOU choose?

Well I am probably not going to give you the answer you are looking for… everything and anything.

You, being a business owner, have probably selected at least three (you need at least three) marketing tools your customer base responds to most and continue to work with them.  That’s great!  You get a gold star for the first part of consistency within your marketing plan!

But answer me this… how are they working for you?  Whatever you have selected to do to promote your business should be working for you in some manner.  If they aren’t, do you know why?

BRANDING!!! Ahhhh you hear the angels singing in the background right?!  No?  Well then let me tell you.  Most businesses that have a failing marketing plan can attribute most of it, if not all, to not branding themselves.  Branding will get you in the door every time.

People like to go with services and businesses that they recognize.  There is a level of comfort when you buy from the brand that is familiar to you.  And we, as people, like comfort in such uncertain times.

Think: When you are starving and are desperately in need of nourishment, if you have a choice between mac and cheese and baby conger eel, even the most adventurous person is going to go with something they KNOW they will like.  They don’t want to take the risk of trying something new, when they need are in need of some food to fill their belly.

Branding will not only give your customers a feeling of comfort, your business will also come across as professional and stable.  It shows that you have been meticulous and thoughtful about your approach, which says you will be meticulous and thoughtful about the service or products you will give to your customers.

So your next question may be, ‘how do I brand my company?’

Easy!

1. Have an image that no matter what it is on, postcards, website, business cards, ads, that it is CONSISTENT across the board.

  • You want a person to be able to look at a postcard one day and then see an email a month later from you and be able to put the two together.
  • I know this may sound obvious, but make sure your colors match from one promotion to the next.  Don’t have a purple logo and business cards, then turn around and send out brochures that are orange.
  • Make sure the pertinent information is in the same place every time.  You are training your customers’ brains to find your information every time, not just once in awhile when they really try hard to find it. You want to make it as easy as possible for them remember you and your information.

2. Continue to put that image on a consistent basis in front of your customers with the marketing tools you have chosen, so it becomes familiar. They can expect to have an email from you every Wednesday morning at 9 AM.  Or they know that at the beginning of the month you send out specials for your business on postcards.  The more you promote your consistent look, the quicker your company becomes recognizable, then the sooner you will have people coming to you rather than your competitors.

So the moral of the story is consistency, consistency, consistency!

The Secret to Getting More Business

I’ve Finally Found the Secret to Getting More Business!

Do you want to know what I discovered? The importance of a website! Yeah, I know you’re thinking, “Well, of course!” But that’s just it! It can’t be any old, makeshift, thrown-together site! If you’re in business, and you’re serious about making money now, you’re presence on the internet needs to attract clients and keep them engaged, time after time!

Imagine this story: A wealthy business owner, one you’ve been trying to land for months, finally likes enough about your sales pitch to visit your site for more information. Up to this moment, he’s all but signed a contract with you.

And then he sees it: your rink-a-dink website that screams “I don’t care enough about my business to market it properly!”

Immediately, he thinks, “If they’re ok with having this kind of quality for their own work, how will they treat me?”

He attributes this poor example of a website to your lack of dedication and low standards and signs with your competition! (Ahh!)

With limited business in this economy, every account counts. Can you afford to send business to your competition? I know I can’t! But I also know that I don’t have a ton of money to throw around. Neither do my friends, who own their own companies. This is why I came up with a specially designed website package for my friends (this means you too!), which allow them to gain that corporate edge without spending the corporate budget.

JR DesignsFortune 500 businesses spend well over $100,000 to have strategically designed websites that speak to their target audience. Even your average small business owner can pay over $15,000 for a site, and that’s not even including content! Why spend that much money to hassle with a media company when you are privy to our friend website package? For only $1200, JR Designs, in collaboration with Begin Communications, will create a winning combination of graphic style and content that positions you more effectively in the marketplace! We might as well be giving it away for FREE!!

Just think: the amount new business generated from this professional-looking site will more than pay for the initial costs! That’s just a few clients, and you’ve already made your money back!

But don’t take my word for it. Call today to set up the most important aspect of your marketing campaign, the one asset that will work harder and smarter for you 24/7: your website. I swear you’ll notice a change, guaranteed. You’ll even feel more professional! So what are you waiting for? Call today!

Sincerely,

P.S. How do you feel when you’re excited to go to a website you’ve heard about, only it turns out to be shoddy and poorly done? Let down, right? For only a fraction of the cost of our competitors, we’ll work with you one-on-one to design a site that wows not only your customers (and potential customers), but your competition! They’ll be calling to find out where you went!

P.P.S. Look, don’t you want to see your company succeed, the profit margin to go through the roof, and that to be your big, expensive sports car outside? Wouldn’t you like to be the first one they call? The only difference between you and them is image. What’s yours?

Welcome to JR Designs Blog

Filed under: General — jrogers @ 1:29 PM

Welcome to JR Designs’ blog!  I finally bit the bullet and made one for myself.  So far so good!

With this blog, I want to share my insight to designing company marketing materials, logos, websites, and everything in between.  This blog will also include some of my pep heaves, what not to do, and my suggestions on what to do.  In the end though, take it as my opinion and go your own way.  If everyone did it the same, then what a boring world we would live in!
